BRIEF:
The project aims to encourage the consumption of chickpeas, promoting a relationship to a more secure food source working with farmers in Norfolk.
PROBLEM:
It is no surprise meat production requires more energy, water, and land than any other food source. By 2050, food related greenhouse gas emissions are expected to reach 11.4 billion tonnes of CO2.
CONCEPT:
Chickpeas provide a far higher protein yield per square kilometre than a herd of cattle or flock of chickens, indicating existing farmland could be used more efficiently. Due to global temperatures increasing, areas in the UK are now suitable for farming chickpeas, allowing them to be more locally accessible.
PROPOSAL:
The project aims to encourage the consumption of chickpeas, promoting a relationship to a more secure food source.
